Bringing life to a building, both interior and exterior, is one of the biggest challenges facing building contractors. Curved walls that blend into the landscape, bringing opulence to the outside, or a colonnade adorning an arch, these are all elements that transform the ordinary facade into something extraordinary. In order for this to be achieved, concrete shuttering needs to be applied.
There are several types of shuttering for concrete construction. Offered in different shapes and sizes, the choice is dependent on the different structural design elements of the building project being undertaken.
Static Versus Mobile Towers
Dependent on the use of the scaffolding, Selflock can be either static or mobile. When it comes to small building projects and renovations, where less movement is needed, the ideal choice is static, which keeps the tower in one place through base plates and base jacks. Whenever scaffold needs to be moved often, castors are the ideal solution. The castors are inserted into the tube of the static scaffold, making it mobile. The flexibility of mobile towers allows for work to be carried out quickly and easily, making them ideal for painters and maintenance workers alike.
Selflock Systems – The Durable Option
Made from high-grade quality steel, they are quick, safe, and easy to use. The components simply slot together, eliminating the necessity for fittings and tools that would otherwise get lost or damaged. This scaffold system is able to be erected to heights of up to 20 metres, ideal for building maintenance that needs to be done on high-rise buildings.
The Mechanics of it All
The components of Selflock scaffolding provide for stability whilst working. The tubing interlocks and is self-locking, making it relatively simple for two workers to erect a scaffold tower. Plan braces, together with tie bars, brace the tower and strengthen and align the frames together. Steel hook on boards create a stable working platform and selflock toe boards help to prevent loose objects from falling off the edge of the platforms. When working at heights, reaching the upper levels of the scaffold tower is done through access ladders, which hook onto the frames, allowing easy access to all platform levels.
